Hampden Children's Day was first held in 1979 by community members that wanted to give back. A non-profit status was later established to keep things on track. 40+ years later, the event continues. 3,000+ attended the 2023 event.
With the exception of 2020, Hampden Children's Day has happened every year!
This event is held on the 2nd Saturday of August.

This free community event deeply depends on the sponsorships from local business, donations, and of course, the hard work of our volunteers. Without this combination of magic, this event could not happen.

The day starts with a parade at 11:00. Kids come decorate your bikes and lead the parade! Followed by the main event on the Hampden Academy campus immediately after. You will have a chance to watch a magician, participate in arts and crafts, build with Home Depot, bounce around in the many bounce houses, get your face painted, sample
The day starts with a parade at 11:00. Kids come decorate your bikes and lead the parade! Followed by the main event on the Hampden Academy campus immediately after. You will have a chance to watch a magician, participate in arts and crafts, build with Home Depot, bounce around in the many bounce houses, get your face painted, sample food from the many food trucks, and check out the local craft vendors. This year we have added an antique car show with an awesome line up. Night activities begin at 6:00 pm with more fun, including food trucks, dancing and/or enjoying live music by Kayla Wass (Hampden's very own from Nashville) and the best fireworks display in the Greater Bangor area (or so we are told).at 9:00 pm.
